Old Colorado City

West of downtown Colorado Springs, the artsy community of Old Colorado City centers around West Colorado Avenue.  Old Colorado City homes for sale include affordable options.  Along with the historic Western culture, it is a recipe for a Best Place to live.

Real Estate in Old Colorado City

Old Colorado City displays a unique array of older and newer properties.  Buyers can find 1880-era Victorian homes, cottages, bungalows from the early 1900s, craftsman, and mid-century modern, modern lofts, and much more.  Because of more than a century of remodels, rebuilds, expansions, and sprucing up, the exteriors and interiors vary considerably.   Many older homes have become businesses or bed and breakfasts.
The median listing price makes Old Colorado City a more affordable option in The Springs.  Home prices range from the $100,000s to over $500,000.  Lots in the older areas may be small; there are large outlying parcels as well.  A sampling of larger subdivisions includes Gold Hill Mesa, The Gables, and Cedar Heights.

Culture and Recreation

This is a tourist destination, especially during the annual Territory Days over Memorial Day weekend when the roots of the Old West take on a new depth.  Celebrations also take place during Christmas, Frontier Days, and St. Patrick’s Parade.  Other times take a stroll through and hang out for a concert or street fest or art walk.
Several parks and trails in Old Colorado Springs inspire the 20,000 residents to take hikes and ride bikes.  For example, the Santa Fe Regional Trail, Pikes Peak Greenway, and Fountain Creek Trail are three major trail systems coming to the area.  Many horse trails lead into the forest, too.
